AQUILA Foundation proudly launched its Community Service initiative in Dili, Timor-Leste, a collaboration with Pelican Grammar School. This programme, which started on February 16th and will culminate in a Music Festival on July 27th, aims to develop essential skills, foster community spirit, and empower the youth of Dili.
The initiative began with a vibrant opening ceremony at MJFFD Community Manleauna Lidun on February 16th. Over 100 enthusiastic participants from the community, engaged in previews of upcoming activities, cultural performances, and interactive registration. Esteemed guests, including Mr. Jakob Tilman Soares, Chief Suco of Suco Manleuana, Mr. Antonio de Jesus, Chief Aldeia Lidun, and Sister Fransisca da Costa from the Community of MJFFD Manleuana, graced the event, adding significance.
Led by experienced teachers from Pelican Grammar School, the program offers weekly community service activities such as Music & Dance, Art & Drawing, and Cooking Skills classes, promoting skill acquisition and community engagement.
Dr. Gerard Kho, Founder & CEO of AQUILA Foundation, shared his vision for the initiative: "We believe that investing in the youth of Dili is investing in the future of Timor-Leste. This program provides a platform for them to explore their talents, learn valuable skills, and contribute positively to their communities. We aim to leave a lasting impact on these young individuals to discover ‘WhoIAm!’ and nurture them to become leaders and changemakers."
AQUILA Foundation is committed to building communities and empowering individuals across South East Asia. This inaugural community service initiative in Dili marks the beginning of our efforts to positively impact communities in the region.
